Engraving burns the design into the leather surface. It is permanent, it is tonal rather than coloured, and it deepens as the apron develops a patina. Embroidery stitches thread into the hide, which gives you colour and stands out at a distance — better for a logo that depends on its colours. Engraving suits a name; embroidery suits a full-colour mark. Both outlast the working life of a fabric apron.

Hair Dye and Chemical Resistance

Full-grain leather resists surface penetration from colour products far better than fabric. A splash of toner or developer sits on the surface and wipes off rather than soaking in and staining permanently. Extended heavy colour work will eventually mark any leather — spot-treat promptly and condition every few months and the surface stays in good shape for years. Bleach is the one thing to take seriously: wipe it immediately rather than letting it sit.

What file do you need for a shop logo?

Vector artwork (AI, EPS, SVG or PDF) gives the cleanest result. A high-resolution PNG can work for simple marks. Send what you have and we will tell you whether it will reproduce well.

Does hair stick to leather?

Far less than to fabric. Clippings brush off a smooth cowhide surface instead of working into the weave, which is the main practical reason barbers move to leather.
